Trailer Training Courses

The use of trailers in the workplace is now becoming more of a risk and lack of training can lead to issues around security and technique.

We therefore offer a one day bolt on training course, leading to an Assessment of Competence. This qualification can be added to the Off-Road Driving qualification or taken separately.

The course will include:

  • Risk Assessments

  • Vehicle to Trailer compatibility

  • Understanding manufacturers Plates

  • Tachographs

  • Loading and Security

  • Trailer manoeuvring

This course is designed to cover the use of all types of trailer, including flatbed, box trailers, horse boxes, chippers and plant and equipment trailers.

Company trailers can be used or trailers can be provided.

NPTC  Assessment  is a 1 hour assessment which is conducted independently either at the end of the course or at a time of customers convenience.

Since January 1997 all new drivers are unable to tow any trailer over 750kgs (plated weight) or any combination of vehicle and trailer that exceeds 3500kgs (plated weight).

This means that “Transit size” vehicles towing small plant trailers, Four Wheel drive vehicles towing horseboxes or just cars towing caravans, now all fall under this regulation.

We are happy to announce that following a number of enquiries from customers we are able to offer B+E DSA Test Trailer training.

The four day course takes you through the complete DSA schedule and includes both on road driving and off-road manoeuvring.  On the fourth day the candidate takes the DSA B+E test at our local DSA Test centre, a test that will have been pre booked.

(This B+E Trailer course is only available at our Maidstone Centre)
